Bintan
Introduction
I went to Bintan Island with a friend from 10/25 to 10/27, so it was just a short three-day trip. Normally, you need a visa to enter Indonesia, but thanks to a new policy, Singapore Student Pass holders can visit Bintan or Batam Island for up to four days without a visa. More details here. Because of this, I saved IDR 500,000 on the visa fee. Also, since there are no direct flights from Taiwan to Bintan Island, the most common ways to get there are either taking a ferry from Singapore or flying from Jakarta.
我在 10/25 到 10/27 跟朋友去了民丹島，是一個短短的三天小旅行。通常進入印尼需要辦簽證，但最近有一個新政策，只要持有新加坡學生證（Student Pass），就可以在民丹島或巴淡島停留四天以內免簽。詳細資訊可以看這裡。因為這個政策，我省下了 500,000 印尼盾的簽證費。另外，從台灣沒有直飛民丹島的航班，最常見的方式是從新加坡搭渡輪，或是先飛到雅加達再轉機。
Bintan Island is often seen as Singapore’s backyard garden. Its economy relies largely on tourism, though some locals also make a living from fishing. Many Singaporeans visit on weekends for short getaways, and I even saw quite a few people carrying yoga mats — probably heading to retreat or wellness programs. The island itself isn’t densely populated, so it feels quiet and relaxing.
民丹島常被視為新加坡的後花園，經濟主要依靠觀光，有些當地人也從事漁業。很多新加坡人週末會到這邊度假，我還看到不少人帶著瑜珈墊，大概是要去參加療癒或靜心的課程。島上的居民不多，所以整體感覺很安靜、很舒服。
There’s no public transportation on the island, so if you want to explore areas outside the resort zone, you’ll need to book a driver or rent a car. We booked several activities on Klook, and thankfully they all included hotel pick-up and drop-off, which made getting around much easier.
島上沒有大眾運輸，如果想去度假村外的地方，就一定要包車或租車。我們這次的行程是透過 Klook 預訂的，所有活動都有包含飯店接送，交通就變得非常方便。
Snorkeling
The first activity we joined was snorkeling, which we booked from here. We also added the underwater video service, and I highly recommend it. The coach gave us some fish feed to hold in our hands so the fish would gather around us — it made the videos and photos look so much better.
我們第一個參加的活動是浮潛，從這裡 預訂的。我們也加購了水下錄影的服務，非常推薦！ 教練會給我們魚飼料拿在手上，這樣魚就會游過來，照片跟影片都會好看很多。
The driver picked us up at the hotel and drove about an hour to the shore. From there, we took a 15-minute boat ride to a fishing house on the sea, where the snorkeling tour began. The water was incredibly clear, and there were tons of fish, including clownfish (Nemo!). After snorkeling, the coach even let us try kayaking for a bit.
司機會到飯店接我們，開一小時左右到海邊，然後再搭船約 15 分鐘到海上的漁屋，從那裡開始我們的浮潛行程。那邊的海水非常乾淨，而且有超多魚，還有尼莫（小丑魚）！結束之後，教練還讓我們玩了一下皮划艇。
One reminder: don’t start the activity after 4 PM, because it gets dark really fast and you won’t be able to enjoy anything.
小提醒：不要在下午四點之後開始活動，因為天黑得很快，之後就什麼都看不到了。
Mangrove
On the second day, we started with a mangrove tour. We also booked this package on Klook, and the driver picked us up at the hotel again. He dropped us off at the entrance of the mangrove area, where we joined a small group with another guide.
第二天我們從紅樹林行程開始。這個活動也是在 Klook 上預訂的，司機一樣到飯店接我們，然後載我們到紅樹林入口。到那邊之後，我們跟其他幾組旅客一起，換了另一位導遊帶領。
We took a boat down the river while the guide introduced the history, natural environment, and wildlife of the mangrove forest. Interestingly, the same route is also used for the firefly tour at night.
我們搭著小船沿著河道前進，導遊一路介紹這片紅樹林的歷史、自然環境，以及這裡的動物生態。很有趣的是，晚上也會走同一條路線做螢火蟲的行程。

Below is a rough breakdown of the expenses for this three-day trip. All amounts are in NTD. Some small items like drinks and snacks were under NTD 100, so I’ve skipped them since this is just a brief summary, not an exact calculation.
